Your Rights as a Client

As a client receiving counseling services in Texas, you have the right to:

  • Be treated with dignity, respect, and cultural sensitivity

  • Participate in your treatment and ask questions at any time

  • Receive clear information about services, fees, and policies before beginning services

  • Provide informed consent and withdraw consent at any time

  • Request changes to your treatment approach or goals

  • Receive services in a safe, professional, and confidential environment

  • Be informed of the limits of confidentiality under Texas law

  • Access your records in accordance with state and federal regulations

  • File a complaint with the licensing board without fear of retaliation

Confidentiality & Its Limits

Your information is kept confidential in accordance with Texas law and professional ethics.

Information may be disclosed without your written consent only when required by law, including:

  • If there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others

  • Suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult

  • A valid court order or other legal requirement

If you have questions about confidentiality, you are always welcome to ask.

Access to Your Records

You have the right to request access to your clinical records.

To request records, please submit a written request:

Please include:

  • Full name and date of birth

  • Description of records requested

  • Preferred delivery method

  • Signature and date

Requests are typically processed within 10-15 business days.

In accordance with Texas law and professional standards, certain portions of the record may be summarized or withheld if release could be harmful. If applicable, this will be discussed with you.

Filing a complaint will not affect your access to services.

Billing & Insurance

This practice is private pay and not in-network with insurance panels.

  • Payment is due at the time of service

  • A superbill can be provided for out-of-network reimbursement

  • Coverage varies depending on your insurance plan
