Burnout and Anxiety Therapy for High-Achieving Professionals in Houston

You can be capable—and completely exhausted

Using Somatic Experiencing® to help high-achieving professionals recover from burnout and overwhelm.

For the Ones Who
Hold Everything Together

You’re smart, successful, and outwardly seem to have it all handled.

People describe you as the best and brightest. They list your accomplishments like bullet points on a résumé and marvel at how quickly you’ve done it. You’re the gladiator. The closer. The one who gets the impossible done.

If your boss needs to land a high-profile client, you get the project.

If a friend is going through a rough time, you’re the first call.

If a family member falls on hard times, they’re counting on you to pull them through.

You are the rock.

From the outside, your life looks solid. Reliable. Impressive.

But little do they know…

You feel like an imposter.

And you’re barely holding it together.

Many high-achieving professionals seeking burnout and anxiety therapy in Houston arrive here in this exact place — capable on the outside, exhausted on the inside.

When life becomes a to-do list

Somewhere along the way, living turned into performing.

Life isn’t something you experience anymore — it’s something you manage. One task to the next. One responsibility stacked on top of another. Your days feel like a conveyor belt of obligations, and you’re sprinting just to stay upright.

You’re exhausted from trying to live up to everyone else’s expectations.

And if we’re being honest, the expectations you put on yourself are even harsher.

  • You’ve done the research.

  • You downloaded the meditation app.

  • You listened to the podcasts.

  • You read the life hack blogs.

  • You joined the 5am club and optimized your morning routine.

And you’re still exhausted.

This is the kind of burnout and high-functioning anxiety I treat in my Houston somatic therapy practice every day.

You want something different.

You imagine a life where:

Your job is part of your identity, not your entire identity

Rest doesn’t feel like failure

You prioritize what actually makes you happy

Hobbies return without guilt

Relationships feel balanced

Boundaries don’t require a crisis

Your nervous system isn’t constantly braced for impact

And you’re looking for therapy that actually works for high performers — not generic advice to “slow down,” but real nervous system change.

Meet Andrea (she/her)

Hi, I’m Andrea.

I’m speaking from experience.

I’m you — about 25 years ago.

I knew how to work really well. And I felt really good about it. I was the newest person in my department and fast-tracked into a senior administrative position. On paper, I was thriving.

Fast forward seven years and I was completely burned out. I was exhausted, disconnected, and running a race I didn’t remember signing up for, but it didn’t look like that on the outside.

That experience is why I understand the high performer who looks fine but feels depleted. My recovery didn’t happen overnight. It required slowing down in ways that felt foreign and uncomfortable. But as I started coming back to myself, everything changed — including my career.

I transitioned into my second career as a therapist to specialize in helping high-achieving professionals recover from burnout, anxiety, and perfectionism through Somatic Experiencing® therapy.

Therapy for top performers in Houston, TX

My Approach

Most high achievers don’t struggle because they lack insight.

They struggle because their nervous system doesn’t know how to stop.

Somatic Experiencing® therapy helps the body complete stress responses and return to regulation. Instead of trying to think your way out of burnout or anxiety, we work directly with the physiology underneath it — the part of you that’s been running on overdrive for years. To learn more about Somatic Experiencing® and how I use it in my work, click here.

In our work together, we focus on building the conditions your nervous system needs to settle and reset. We gradually:

  • build nervous system safety

  • increase your capacity for stress

  • reduce chronic tension and shutdown

  • retrain your body to tolerate rest

  • loosen perfectionism at the physiological level

  • restore energy and emotional resilience

Together, we’ll create a practical plan using your own words to define what your life looks like when things feel better.

We return to that plan regularly so therapy stays focused, relevant, and grounded in real progress.
You will always know what you’re doing and why you’re doing it.

Bridging logic and the body

The clients that are most successful in therapy with me are analytical, high-performing professionals. People who trust logic. Data. Systems.

They live in their heads (and are often paid very well for the ways they’re able to use their minds), so they often struggle with the idea of somatic-based treatment because it seems too abstract.

And as the daughter of a mathematician, I get it.

That’s why I work so hard to translate some of these concepts to clients who often struggle to connect their brains and their bodies.

Now I help clients understand their nervous system
like an engineer understands a system — not as a flaw, but as a design.

This is therapy for people who
think fast and feel deeply.

The clients who I’ve worked with also appreciate that my office is a place where they feel like they can let their guards down and truly be themselves.

Yes, this work is serious, but it doesn’t have to be heavy all the time. Humor is welcome here. Laughter is part of regulation.

We can do deep work and still enjoy being human in the room together.
